Dental implant dentists can replace your lost or missing teeth with artificial, natural looking implants that often prove to be equally as strong as your natural teeth. We offer a variety of options to serve our patients, whose dental histories and bone resources vary due to age, physiology and/or illnesses. The four types of dental implant appliances that we offer are:
- Single Tooth Replacement
- Anterior Tooth/Teeth Replacement(s)
- Posterior Tooth/Teeth Replacement(s)
- Full Upper Replacements
Our dental implant dentists can perform a single tooth replacement to fill in the gap where a tooth has been lost. Anterior replacements are performed at the front of the mouth, and posterior replacements are performed further back in the mouth. Full upper replacements can provide patients with a full set of upper teeth.
In our practice, our dental implant dentists off the following types of mounting:
- Root Implant
- Plate-form Implant
The root implant appliance is the most popular, because it is the most similar to having naturally grown teeth. The process begins with imbedding an anchor – the artificial root – into the patient’s jawbone. The anchor is given time to heal and time to incorporate with the jawbone. Following a successful healing and integration process, an artificial tooth is mounted onto the head of the anchor.
Dental implant dentists make use of the plate-form appliance when patients do not have a jawbone wide enough to accommodate and properly support the installation of the individual anchoring devices for individual, artificial teeth. In certain cases, the “new” teeth can be fitted onto the plate-form immediately following its installation.
The subperiosteal implant is utilized on patients who have very little bone material to which an appliance can be attached. In the past, this method used to require two surgical processes. But now, with our state of the art equipment, we can measure and produce our patients’ dental impressions with x-ray technology, and, therefore, get the job done in just a single surgical procedure.
Contact the dental implant dentists of Garbis Dental Associates, if you are looking for an alternative to dentures or simply trying to fill in the gaps that have been left by the tooth or teeth that you have lost. Implants can provide patients with a more natural dental experience in both appearance and use. The “new” teeth can be maintained, brushed and flossed just like natural teeth. However, it must be noted that good oral hygiene habits are a must for any patient considering this type of appliance. Bacterial infections, swelling of the gums and jawbone recession can result, if proper care is not taken to maintain your dental implants.
